CE Certification

Hi all
I hope this is the right place for this. I am going to buy a boat imported to Europe from the US, American design "Britton Chance" build in Finland 1972. the EU rule says that any boat imported after 1998 shall have an CE certification. unles I can prove that it was used in europe prior to the export to the US.
Does anyone on this fine forum have some first hand experience importing an old boat to europa?

If I remember it right the original build year is what counts, but there might be something changed since I've read the original directive..

Yes Teddy thats somehow correct, as I have noticed that is boats build before 1950.
