Hello fellow sailors,
I have the usual question, however reading other posts, they always end on the individual cases and then I cannot take the right answer to my questions.
So I found a nice and
cheap boat that would improve my
research on
marine biology (dolphins and whales) here in EU. The problem is it is on the
Caribbean.
The objective is to use it in EU waters and I'm a EU resident. I also have an individual company which would support costs, fundings and eventually own the
boat.
Found solutions:
Convenience flag, is it applicable for EU residents? I read somewhere that doesn't mater the residence location.. Leaving EU every 18 months isn't a problem, plenty of
work on Gibraltar's Straight.
If VAT is paid (a big if) and if the boat is bought on EU, no need to pay it again right? So just need to take the boat and the owner to EU and make the
purchase?
I believe in a old post that I can't find anymore of a fellow Greek
member, someone said something about opening a company outside EU and
charter the boat here in EU?? crazy.. but I'm all hears
And last if nothing above works pay the crappy VAT on
Azores where is the cheapest, however I just can't right now, that are some way to 'buy' more time to get the needed amount?
Thank you for your time,
