You plan to register the
dinghy in each state, depending upon its laws, as you go through? Where do they send the paperwork if you're in transit? Or do you want to wait in each state for them to process it before moving on? Will there be room for all the different
registration numbers on the bow? What you suggest would be ridiculous. When we (from Connecticut) go to
Maine, we rely on the Connecticut
registration of our
dinghy for use in
Rhode Island,
Massachusetts, New Hampshire and
Maine - if we take the dinghy that is registered. We have an
inflatable with a
motor and a
Dyer Dhow. Connecticut doesn't require registering dinghies without engines, so the
Dyer is in a "t/t" situation. Your Canadian rules will probably apply to your dinghy, as a tender to a foreign vessel, but you should probably
research the actual
regulations on the USCG website to be sure. Taking someone's online word isn't worth the paper the post isn't printed on.
