Canadian License vs Registration/Bahamas

10 years ago we cruised the Bahamas on a Canadian boat with a provincial boating license (ie: not a “registration”). We had no problems clearing in( same during our entry to the US), simply provided the license # that was clearly displayed on our bow and showing the official license document.

There wasn’t such a thing as on-line application back then, I have looked at the Bahamas site , but it says registration.

Looking for real world experience from someone that has recently entered the Bahamas with an (ideally) Canadian license.

Thanks in advance.

Re: Canadian License vs Registration/Bahamas

I acknowledge it is not answering your question, but as I understand legally it has to be registered. I know that the US turns a blind eye to it here in the PNW near the border where there are so many boats going back and forth, however with other countries I have always had to provide the registration number. I expect in some of those counties they would not have a clue if I provided the wrong number..

I'll also be interested to hear the answers to your original question.

I heard from friends yesterday on a Canadian sailboat trying to check in to Florida and are being held up by US Customs for the same reason. First time I've ever heard of this happening but technically US Customs is correct. They must have gotten an officer who woke up on the wrong side.
