I will start by apologizing to the older members who get frustrated with us newbs who can't find info.
My wife and I are planning a trip from
Canada down US
east coast.
My worst concern used to be Hurricanes and Pirates, now it's missing some regulation that could cost us a huge fine and or end our trip.
Can anyone provide a
current list of permits and little known rules for cruising in US
water. I have searched
government web site and am still unclear on several issues.
1. Do I need a
permit to operate my
marine radio?
2. Do you still need to communicate with govnt officials every time you move your
boat? (I read there was a $5000 fine for not reporting that)
3. What is a trash plan?
4. Where do you get a cruising
permit. Do I need one for every different state?
What else am I missing.
I have spent countless hours on
Government sites and end up with more questions at the end than when I started.
Bring on the Hurricanes and the Pirates.
