Buying a boat out of this country

Do I still have to pay a tax on it when I bring it into Florida?

Re: Buying a boat out of this country

Depends. No simple yes or no answer.

Question discussed several times in great detail. Your answer and more is in these threads.

I think if you live in Florida you will have to pay sales tax on it when you register it .

Read the many, many posts on the subject if you really want to know the whole story.

But to summarize in case you don't have the time to read the many previous threads.

If you are a FL resident and buy a boat anywhere in the world and register the boat in FL, even if you don't bring the boat to FL, then generally yes you will, however there are some exceptions or very specific circumstances where you could be exempt.
