Yacht maintenance Software

I have been trying to construct a spreadsheet to manage maintenance, inventory and location of parts on board my Hylas 54. But I realized there are many off the shelf, customizable software options that are available like My Boats, Deep Blue, etc. Does anyone have any experience with any of these to help keep records and "To Dos" for a sailboat?

Have a play with Evernote. Very simple but extremely powerful, I put everything on there, to do lists, photos of serial numbers, manuals, etc...
Then it is all tagged with urgency etc and easy to find with a good search facility. Plus great place to store useful Web forum posts.

I too am interested. I have a complex spreadsheet with all sorts of tables, calculations, etc. However NOTHING beats a true database structured system.

Re: Yacht maintenance Software

Can one use the Basic, FREE, non-internet connected download program to effectively achieve a database system? Having once worked with a preventive maintenance program for boats, I appreciate the power and complexity of the challenge. I just don't want to be tied to a monthly fee and the needed connectivity an advanced program might require.

Re: Yacht maintenance Software

I've been using Seahub for the past few months. It's new but it's straight forward i've been all these years thinking it was too hard to find an easy but useful program which i'm not going to give up on and let collect dust.

Does all the normal stuff like give reminders of due task, inventory database and project management but there's a fluid analysis module which is worth looking at. Gives fluid samples results in charts which is a lot easier to figure out

Re: Yacht maintenance Software

What I need is software coupled with a camera, and that follows me around the boat, noting where I leave things. Any software that requires me to enter such data will be a failure, I expect, and will not be a hell of a lot better than a notebook (the paper kind, that is).

Have you thought about just using the calendar on your smart phone? Simply had the items as appointments or tasks and set them to repeat whenever you want.

KISS. (Keep it simply stupid).

I watched the episode where Randy explains some of the functionality of the Vessel Vanguard system. I agree with your opinion, very comprehensive!
