Winch service

How to remove the tapered part?
See photo.

I had a winch. It would not turn.
I took it apart, partly.
( the top part )

Lotsa gunk. I cleaned it, greased it.

Now turns. Is usable.

However. Need to take further apart, to get to the bottom gears, to clean etc.

.? How to get it apart further?

How does that tapered bit of metal come out?Click image for larger version

It's not attached, just stuck with guck. Get a thin blade under the flange and wiggle gently. Soak in solvent first.
