Kim Holman designed some very sweet and pretty vessels. I think this 33 footer would do me nicely...... thanks. I owned a Twister 28 for a few years about 30 years ago and she was very capable and could handle any weather too.

I've had 2 boats by Stan Huntingford. I wish I would have gotten to meet him, I heard he was a character (both good and not so good). Both boats very solid and well laid out.

My second favorite naval architect is Bob Perry. Funny guy, proven designs, and I did have the pleasure to meet and chat with him at a Perry rendezvous.

But, if I ever sell my Cooper 416 I'd likely go with an Amel designed by Jean Berret & Olivier Racoupeau.

Yes, that looks like a nice comfortable yacht. I think too many cruising production yachts try to be racing yachts at the same time. But if that's what people want......?

I like some overhangs but the Alden designed Sirocco (Errol Flynn's yacht) is a bit overdone!

I love this boat. It was listed on Yachtworld a few weeks ago. Think it was built by Brooklyn Boatyard but forgotten the designer. Apparently is quite quick too but over 300K. Replacement was 1.8 mill I think they said.And a plus for me is it's cold molded wood !!!! A real boat !!!!

John Alden, because he without doubt designed the mot beautiful Schooner's, which i have never owned, and now to old to have it happen[82] a few year's back i was visiting my sister in Southern California, she was researching the family tree, so She tells me that i'm related to the Pilgrim's, WHAT !, yea, thru the ALDENS, so out i go, get his design book[out of print] from the camper, and read the forward, sure enough there it is, i had kindof read the forward year's ago, but not really, you know what i mean, anyway, i knew why i had salt water in my vein's, after arriving back in Port townsend, where i had my shop[shipwright], i told one of my customer's, who had an Alden schooner i worked on" i have good and bad new's for you, i'm related to J.A., so my rate is going up], we had a good laugh.

A nice looking boat for sure, but it reminds me of a quotation from (IIRC) Rod Stephens: "show me a yawl and I'll show you a boat whose performance and appearance can both be improved with an axe".

Jim, whose favourite designer(s) had to be S&S, consistently designs that had both performance and beauty, and a record that spanned many years and developments in the art form.

Did Steve Dashew design his boats?? I had always assumed he worked with a designer to produce them.

If so, those boats are really something. He should be very proud as a fairly new designer.

Some of Steve's early boats were designed by Angelo Lavranos, also a great designer. Originally from South Africa but New Zealand now.

Steve designed the 56/60/64 boats that were built by TPI - 64 pictured above right.
Beowulf was Steve's own last sailboat.
