Where to find 3M VHB 4991 adhesive tape
I am looking for who sells 3M VHB 4991 adhesive tape for direct glazing polycarbonate windows in a new hard dodger being built.
There are tons of vendors for 4941 and 5952, but yet to find anyone who sells 4991
thanks

Re: Where to find 3M VHB 4991 adhesive tape
Thanks, folks,
Guess I just looked in the wrong place.
Did you use this for windows without screws or outer molding? If so, how did you find it to work with and did you use primers and bonders with it?

I think Amazon has all the VHB tapes. But you can call (or dig on their web site) 3M, who will gladly tell you distributors & resellers in your area.

Re: Where to find 3M VHB 4991 adhesive tape
If you decide to use screws, there is a method to prevent leaks and prevent the fasteners from cracking lexan or polycarbonate. Drill an oversize hole and cut surgical tubing slightly longer than the material thickness and thread it and a finish washer onto the fastener. That method provides room for the material to shrink and expand and is leak proof. If through-fastening use a barrel nut to provide a finished look.

Re: Where to find 3M VHB 4991 adhesive tape
Thanks for the suggestion, but I will not be using screws.
I do know that technique. Also did forward hatch with 1/2" Lexan screwed down by drilling slightly larger than screw size, countersink, then setting each screw with Dolphinite. Has worked fine so far, but haven't taken her to the tropics yet.

I got mine off ebay. Worked great for a similar project.

jjt5796, did you use the primer and bonder that are usually recommended?
