Whats missing from my Jib Furler?

https://www.cruisersforum.com/galler...ge.php?i=14992

What is missing from my Furler?

What is the triangular rod that is hanging down?

The Label is rubbed off. Is this a Harken?

The boat was manufactured in 1990.

Thanks

Yes it’s a Harken. The prefeeder is “hanging down”.

The "pre-feeder" is where you feed the bolt rope of the headsail through, and guide it into whichever side of the foil you want it on (halyard to head of sail), prior to hoisting it.

Any guide for how to use the prefeeder?

This seems to illustrate clearly. Didn’t watch the entire video as the narration is like listening to someone drawing their nails across the surface of a blackboard.

I don't mind his accent or listening to him speak. It appears his prefeeder has ball bearings which mine lacks.

Also I must address the kink in the jib stay I mentioned here

Re: Whats missing from my Jib Furler?

tbodine88 -

Not all prefeeders have ends that rotate (not sure about ball bearings). Just do an Internet search for jib prefeeders to see the many different designs.

Your furler certainly looks like a Harken - especially the drum assembly - but the torque tube and prefeeder don't look like the Harken units that I've seen. Perhaps it's a different size/model that I'm used to seeing.

What makes you think that something is missing?
