(I'm pretty good with horse-hair plaster tho - )

I always enjoyed working on the money pit though. It was sometimes a history lesson. If you enjoy working with old stuff - then maybe you should just do your thing and not worry about the no-romance-always-practical naysayer types.

my first major boating dream was an old steam ship.

1987 new yorker turbo. it talked, had an electronic dash, and was quick, also rusty...
1985, 1987 300ZX. both talked, had electronic dashes, and had a boot load of power... until the seat detached from the rest of the unitbody...
1984 720 pickup, had 4 cylinders and 8 plugs....
all old junk, but fun. spent many hours learning systems and reading wireing diagrams. i learned much from them.
the key i learned was they were good for transportation, but they could never be made to be worth what a new car is worth.
i will tell you one thing, i never got to the end or repairs.
moneypits... gag.
i hope a boat that got wet inside, would not be one.

I know where a 40 something Bluewater is that runs and looks good for a little more than $12000.00,unless you are a glutten for pain and financtual punishment I would not do this..The boat is in Washington NC if you are interested..

Yes, marine grade wiring is tin-coated copper. It's expensive, but if you want it to work, then you shouldn't cut corners. There's not any credible way to boat which is cheap, that I have ever found, apart from buying a Laser and sticking with it.

Wiring..... any wiring subject to salt water immersion of more than a few hours and not flushed with fresh water and dried will be corroded. The cost to totally rewire the boat with proper marine grade AC & DC conductors, breakers, switches, panels, lights etc. will be in excess of $60k (materials only).

No one who knows anything about boats would attempt this on such a low quality vessel.

I noticed from the photos that the hull was distorted in a way suggesting the engine beds had shifted or were otherwise displaced. There are a lot of lines no longer true. Lots of hull damage requiring probable total removal of the engines.

So, how do you know there is anything wrong with the boat? Have you had a survey done? Sometimes boats go on the market for a fraction of their full retail price for reasons unrelated to the boat itself....female trouble, for example. Have a survey done and then come back and talk about it.

It is gas powerd and it has a problem w/one of the engines..It looks like a nice boat for a lake,but I think bob&connie have it right,they werent very good boats(Bluewater) from what I have seen..
