I have also heard talk about poly over epoxy. Some swear by it, some swear at it. Then there is that resin called 'vinylester'...

Before glassing to the old CSM, how deep would you sand? Just through any wax, gel coat, paint? Would you use a rougher grit like 40-60? Wipe with acetone or just dust it off after sanding?

I need to try some of the heavier glassing reinforcements with poly to 'free my mind' in regards to robust glassing schedules as my boat will need this in a few places. Too bad I can't trade my plain weave scraps for the others...

Tmacmi, please let us know how it goes.

Re: What weight Chopped Strand mat

Mat adds no strength , it’s parasitic

If you use epoxy skip the mat and only use structural fibers
