Vegamite as lubricant

Just starting a hose replacement job. Was wondering If anyone had considered using that fine biodegradable product as an adjunct to the heat gun when installing a new hose. I considered pork fat but there are other uses for that. I considered dipping the hose in the deep fryer but couldn't see running through the pilot house dripping grease all over. This seems just right.

Clean up is harder using washing detergent. You can't lick up any spills .

I like the way both of you think, bit of broad thinking and thrifty. Actually I thought I would get comment along the lines of "what would the fish prefer".
Near where I live in suburban Melbourne there is (was till recently) a plaque honoring the discovery of vegemite, that occurred in a garage nearby. Personally I think it was such a important discovery, the inventor should have got a Noble award or something, don't waste it as a pipe lubricant and also I never seen a great-full fish ever.

Just cheap detergent to lubricate hose to barb connections, or spit.

He actually received a PhD for it .

I was born and bred on Vegemite. My high school was near the spot where it was invented and I passed the Carlton & United brewery where he sourced the waste from the scrapings of beer barrels on my way to uni every day for a few years.
Seriously addicted here . Boat supplies are kept high.

Therein lies the atrocity of public recognition for a rip off product that lost the wonderfulness of taste embodied in Marmite. Always a runner up in direct preference. If Australian children had not been converted through familiarity and had MARMITE early enough to make a choice, (without having their tastebuds irrevocably addicted to vegemite,) then the world would be full of nutritive goodness AND taste.



P.S. It was NOT invented.. it was copied because MARMITE would not let Australia have the proper recipe.....

Ah yes......... an association known for banning butter in favour of margarine. This has no relevance to taste or accuracy of promotion for health....

I was curious what the difference is between Marmite and Vegemite, so I Googled around and found this taste-test on the Huffington Post:
