Used sails

I have been looking for used sails to keep as spares should I need them one day because my sails are getting old. Has anyone had any experence with used sails? What is the best place to buy sails? Thanks

Used Sails

Hi Irwinsailor, I purchased a new storm sail on ebay, then I purchased a huge used sail, which could be cut into smaller storm sails, on ebay as well. I've spent the winter sewing stormsails, staysails, and "gale" sails. You can't have too many smaller sails. The larger sail I purchased was 8.5 ounce material as I wanted the strength for storm sails. Hopefully, the sellers on ebay will be honest with condition reports.

Re: Used sails

Have bought 4 sails off eBay. Paid around $300 for each one. Got a 150 Genoa, Radial Spinnaker, and two working jibs that were in excellent condition. The 150% Genoa and Spinnaker looked to be almost unused. Sails were from a variety of different boats but the measurements fit my boat. Have also snuffer socks from consignment stores that have worked great.
