Use top of cut off wood mast as a radar dome mount point

https://www.amazon.com/Almencla-Stai...WEBVNVXRSXMJS0
I have a 1" ss rail on the flybridge aft most part.
I was wondering how to attach mast to boat up on the roof, so thought use a split tee on rail, then a real short piece of ss tubing to a 90* base screwed into the mast.
The mast base has a bronze rod, so could drill hole in roof and that would hold lower part in place.
Mast is maybe 10 feet tall.
Would that provide sufficient support?
The rail is very sturdy, and the mast section might weigh 30 lbs or a little less.
And maybe should be shortened, I do have a tall bimini top that would be in front of this.

I salvaged this thing from a boat going to be crushed. A PO had used it to pull up things into the boat, had it mounted off to the side., sort of like a crane with no boom.

If you’re setting the mast up by putting the bronze rod into a hole in your “roof”, why not just lash the mast to the rail where the two intersect? Screwing a fitting into the mast seems to be an unnecessary complication.

I suppose so. I could drill a hole thru the rail and run a long SS screw into the mast. Just a lashing would allow it to slip sideways along the rail.

Anyhow not saying I will do this just that its an interesting idea. If the mast ever came loose, its heavy enough to cause some real damage, even kill someone, so maybe screw and lash.

The top of this mast could also be tied to the Bimini frame aft-most bow.

I often pick up discarded things of interest and then later find uses for them
