Turnbuckles pricing

Hi folks.
I am thinking about replacing a couple of turnbuckes and had a looks at prices and noticed some huge differences sometimes x4 or x5. Obviously the expensive ones are branded products and the others are not but still stated as 316 SS. Is it mostly a matter of branding or the cheap ones are made of cheap chinese inox?

Opinions?
Cheers

I steer clear of "branded" products like Ronstan, Harken, Lewmar et al because, rightly or wrongly, I believe they are manufactured with high performance racing yachts in mind and are priced accordingly.

Your life (or the life of others) can depend on the integrity of a turnbuckle. There is no better place to spend money on a “branded” product. Penny pinching when replacing a toilet paper holder is risk free, comparatively.

Point taken but a cruising boat would not be pushed to the extreme of racing yachts.

This a forum where the strength of different turnbuckles is discussed- quite interesting

which turnbuckle would be stronger - Fix It Anarchy - Sailing Anarchy Forums
