My boat is steel and has a stainless pipe (3" inside diameter)welded onto and through the hull to accomodate a transducer. The fish finder/sounder I have is a Garmin Striker 4. I am thinking of embedding the transducer in marineepoxy (assuming this sounder will shoot through it) ... I have emailed Garmin, yet to hear. Any comments with similar setup appreciated. Thanks...
There is NO need or reason to use epoxy for this. Just no.
The standard setup is to fill the "pipe" with propylene glycol. (Non toxic antifreeze). Given a good fluid interface, any transducer will shoot through a steel hull with minimal signal attenuation.
