cheers,
Would you mind guaranteeing all payments for damages to boats that use that fabric? If so, I'll change back to that crap. If not, I'll stick with a mesh that won't break or stress all the fasteners on the tramp.

Honestly, I sometimes wonder about your knowledge base. Where did you get this from? The primary purpose of the net is to keep big objects on the boat from falling through the hole up there. Otherwise we simply wouldn't put a net across the holes. Modern cat's simply don't pitchpole anyway. I'd like to see one example of a cruising cat produced in the last 20 years that did.

Well duh. Of course the net is to keep you or other big objects from falling through. That’s a given.

That’s like me trying to argue with you that the primary purpose of car tires is to keep the car rims off the ground when you had just told me the primary purpose was to stick to the road and have traction.

It’s just a given

A solid deck would work much better for keeping people and things out of the water forward. However, a solid deck catches water in a pitch pole situation and thus, we use nets to allow water to pass through.

Why do you think power cats don’t have nets? Hint: because they have no pole to pitch.

Finally, maybe your cat can’t pitch pole, but better performing ones can and must be fitted with a net. If you don’t believe you need a net forward for pitch pole safety, convert to a solid deck up there. It can be done without adding any real excess weight.
