Tool rolls, and other tool stowage ideas?
On thing I've always really wanted for my wrenches is a tool roll, where my wrenches could be easily stowed away, protected from the elements, and carried around the boat easily. I made these ones out of waxed canvas from sailrite, and am really happy with how they came out.
What other tool-storage hacks have you found particularly effective/helpful on your boat? I'd like to find better stowage for our socket set next, as the big vacuum formed plastic container is awkward to stow and move around. It also traps water very well.

For sockets I stack then on a bolt and use a conventional tool roll like those pictured

Old Samsonite beauty cases make great tool boxes too. Light & sturdy.

Nice job on the tool rolls. I am looking also for a way to store socket sets. Neither hard cases nor socket rails appeal to me. I'm considering something like these tool pouches. Wondering if anyone else is happy with this.

I have 2 rolls and 2 carry bags. One roll of wrenches, one of screwdrivers, a bag of ratchets and sockets, and a bag of pliers and cutting tools.
Sockets are on plastic holders they were sold with.

I'm using a combination of bags like that with most sockets (at least for 1/4" and 3/8" drives) on short rails inside the bags. Color coded bags, SAE in one, metric in another. Color coded rails, for drive size.
ARES makes rails short enough to bag, available on Amazon.

Re: Tool rolls, and other tool stowage ideas?
incorporating short rails into a roll or bag seems like it would be pretty easy. I might look at that approach.
What I don't want is to use an elastic like in the link below, as I know that the stretchy-ness will be lost in no-time at all, and the whole thing would be come useless.

Edit: Actually, the closer I look at it, it looks like it might just be a single strip of leather sewn in to fit each socket, which isn't a terrible idea, though also don't provide much captive holding.
