Holy crap, Rhapsody, that's awful. So glad you got a hold of her so she can get another chance to be what she was built to be.

There should be a database.....

Wasn't there a boat seized by the police because it was being used as a bordello? I read about it here I thought, no personal experience on my part.
Reminds me when I bought a boat from an estate.. Me and the broker were going through it and found a backpack full of hardcore porn videos.I let the broker have them.

Sent from an undisclosed location on the high seas or from the lounge chair by the pool, you decide.

The "Fortuna II"?...Oh wait, that was Mr. Lucky's boat.
Mr. Lucky (TV series) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

An old TV series from 1959/'60 that featured the yacht Fortuna II, first as an offshore casino, then a restaurant when the sponsors objected.

It was an actual motor yacht, 148', launched in 1932 as the "Alamo", and used by the Navy as the USS Alabaster during WWII.
USS Alabaster (PYc-21) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Alabaster (PYc-21) (navsource)

It was filmed as a location setting for the series, then survived until about 1982, when it burned and sank in Mexico.

Maybe the Mine Sweeper that John Wayne bought, the "Wild Goose"?
Still active in Newport Beach:

Always wanted a surplus DD or DE myself.

5200 isn't silicone.

Re: There should be a database.....

we could start with salvors who befoul boats instead of saving em , selling off the parts then after stripping, selling boat as a "liveaboard" ... happens more often than one would think. is a hella business. unscrupulous salvors exist. omy gods. how can this happen..lol
as someone who bought one of these from a boat virgin, i am refiting proor boat--isnt easy, as ye know.
i say sukitup and repair the boat so you like it.
find a boat that has been sitting on land many years, you have same problem i have, only drier for a minuet.
there is a reason boats are on hard.
there is also a reason why boats on hard are cheaper than in water boats.
good luck.

There could be a number of classifications:

• People guilty of simple neglect of maintenance, but who are otherwise fine boaters and generally good to have at a gathering might be restricted to owning non-classic boats with simple systems, but would be restricted from ownership of classic traditional vessels and wooden boats.

• Continued violations for negligence could result in forfeiture of the right to own anything more complex than a jon boat or kayak/canoe. With rehabilitation and demonstration of better boat keeping habits they might be given an opportunity to own a daysailor on a trial basis with hopes of someday rejoining their boating brethren out on the big water.

• But those who are guilty of the most egregious violations against boats, who commit acts that actually result in harm to boats and make the saving of any boat they have owned much more costly and difficult for any subsequent owners (the last owner of our boat falls into this category) should be banned from ever owning a boat of any sort.

Those in the last category should also be prohibited from going to boat shows, frequenting boat yards, or subscribing to boating periodicals, just as pedophiles can’t live near schools and shouldn’t look at kiddy porn.

Just sayin'.....

The database I'd like to see is one where you can enter the name, address, phone of a person who is trustworthy and did a good job working on your boat. Be it a mechanic, painter etc. Just like those Harvard guys on Car Talk. On their site you can enter a name of someone that has done work on your vehicle for a fair price and good work. I travelled all over the country and no matter what state I was in, I could always find a great, honest, mechanic. It has to be set up in such a way that should someone get work done by this referral method and the job was lacking, we can take their name off the list. Good idea?

Like an Angie's List for boaters. It's a great idea!! Could be a money maker for someone, Angie isn't doing too bad.

I cancelled Angie's List. I found most had such a low no of responses that it could have been Uncle Luke and Aunt Tilly etc.. I also found it suspect that all seemed to be positive. It use to be a satisfied customer told 3 a dissatisfied one told 8. I'm sure that has even broadened with today's information age?

On the other hand it may work for boating since it would be dealing with a broader client base not just locals.

Would be an excellent add on to Active Captain or similar?

Re: There should be a database.....

Must be in the Universe, found this, this morning on ActiveCaptain

4. Today when you need some type of service, from mechanical, to
detailing, to canvas repair, you typically contact some of your friends
to find out where they've been happy. Or you make an open forum posting
and hope to get helpful information. Why not be able to see the
insurance brokers your friends are using? Or how about looking at your
boat owner's group to see the yards that get high reviews from the
members? These kinds of questions can change your destination plans as
much as the weather, and they're all based around the merging of social
networking into the planning and navigation process.
