we could start with salvors who befoul boats instead of saving em , selling off the parts then after stripping, selling boat as a "liveaboard" ... happens more often than one would think. is a hella business. unscrupulous salvors exist. omy gods. how can this happen..lol
as someone who bought one of these from a boat virgin, i am refiting proor boat--isnt easy, as ye know.
i say sukitup and repair the boat so you like it.
find a boat that has been sitting on land many years, you have same problem i have, only drier for a minuet.
there is a reason boats are on hard.
there is also a reason why boats on hard are cheaper than in water boats.

The database I'd like to see is one where you can enter the name, address, phone of a person who is trustworthy and did a good job working on your boat. Be it a mechanic, painter etc. Just like those Harvard guys on Car Talk. On their site you can enter a name of someone that has done work on your vehicle for a fair price and good work. I travelled all over the country and no matter what state I was in, I could always find a great, honest, mechanic. It has to be set up in such a way that should someone get work done by this referral method and the job was lacking, we can take their name off the list. Good idea?

Like an Angie's List for boaters. It's a great idea!! Could be a money maker for someone, Angie isn't doing too bad.

I cancelled Angie's List. I found most had such a low no of responses that it could have been Uncle Luke and Aunt Tilly etc.. I also found it suspect that all seemed to be positive. It use to be a satisfied customer told 3 a dissatisfied one told 8. I'm sure that has even broadened with today's information age?

On the other hand it may work for boating since it would be dealing with a broader client base not just locals.
