The Pingmobile splashed today!

Eight months to the day since she was hauled ( and 21 years to the day since I bought her in Thailand) the Pingmobile went back in the water...

Major work was a serious osmosis repair, drop keel, replace all (13) keel bolts, blast and epoxy keel, assorted structural repairs, replace all treadmaster ( all done by Brin Wilson Boatbuilders) , rig out and replaced all the bits not replaced 18 months ago in Chile sorted by Gulf Harbour Rigging, sails fixed by Doyles, lots of other stuff....

Feels good....

Even cold, baked beans can taste like food of the gods in the right circumstances . Washed down with a nice red almost anything tastes good .

I can just imagine your excitement. Really happy for you .

Re: The Pingmobile splashed today!

Thank you also SWL......

Thought it was the original 'never ending story'.....

Splashed at 1107 .... I think they had 6 or 7 boats in or out before me today... amazing place......

When she was 'wet' I checked for leaks... opened engine seacock... up on deck... turned key... fired up and running in a nano second... Travelift driver said 'that's impressive.... ' ... and I guess he has seen a few...... love me Volvo

Re: The Pingmobile splashed today!

They say the happiest day in a boat owners life is the day the boat is bought and the day it is sold.

For those of us on a long journey of rebuild, refit, reconstruction - it is just not true. I look forward to the day I can launch a boat I have owned far longer than I would care to admit - a boat I have never sailed.

Congratulations! It excites those of us who are still working on our boats. We can see that it can be done. That it is worth the effort.
