Teleflex Capilano Hyd Steering

Found a significant leak in my Hydraulic Steering. A fitting on the "S" valve is bad. I am thinking of removing the "S" valve because it doesn't seem to do anything either in the "Reversing" or "Non Reversing" position. Anyone know what it really does and do I really need it? Thanks.

Re: Teleflex Capilano Hyd Steering

The S valve in the reversing position allows you to feel the water pressure on the rudder. Like the feedback you get with a tiller. In the non-reversing position it will not let the water pressure on the rudder change the position of the rudder. In other words, no rudder feedback to the wheel.
