Teak Hatch Black Caulking Touchups?

I am about to refinish my companionway and lazarette teak hatches.
They were built by a professional a few years back but they haven't been maintained.
I have to use a heat in to remove the remaining varnish and start over again.
There is some pitting and small voids in the black caulking.
My question is this;
What do I do?
Do I fill these void areas with the same caulk?
Will the 10 coats of varnish be acceptable?
Mind you it's not in that bad of shape and the caulking doesnt need recaulking.

Thanks

Just finished caulking and sanding my decks. After finishing sanding I had some caulk do as you described I angle cut the caulk with a razor knife and recaulked the spots. Probably 20 or so been 2 months still good.

That's cool, thanks.
I didn't know it was that simple.
I guess I'll cut a small angled edge in the caulk and fill those areas.
Do you recommend a caulk brand?

Thanks

Used black sikaflex on my decks. Seems to be holding up pretty well after 3 years.

Teak Deck Systems sis-440 caulk is made specifically for what you are doing. Teakdecking Systems® We used it when I laid down new teak on our cabin top a year and a half ago. So far so good...
