hello all,
looking for some insight on when boat manufacturers went from screwing down teak planks to being glued down, whether by vacuum or other method of holding down the teak. i'm currently looking at a boat that has weathered deck but is glued down and its a 1987 vintage. does anybody know when glued down process became the norm?
Gilana is 1978, our deck is glued only. We are a steel hull.
The boards were cut to curve, and then laid one per day using scaffold props against the roof of the shed and sand bags.
Original was 15mm teak glued on top of 10mm plywood. The ply was laid on a permanent elastic mastic and has csk machine screws holding it down.
