Taswell Owners

Hi

We own a 1988 Taswell 43 based in Victoria, BC, and love it! We are doing up Andromeda I for an offshore getaway in 3-4 years.

We are interested in connecting with other Taswell owners to share information on maintenance and refits.

Two questions:

1) Has anyone had trouble with the original lewmar ports in the hull? Are they strong enough offshore? Has anyone found a suitable replacement portlight? I spoke with New Found Metals, who make great stuff, by they have no replacement that would be a good fit.

2) Has anyone dealt with water damage on bulkheads that connect to the interior floor- hull intersection? Ours are showing rot here, and I suspect it is due to condensation from cold being transmitted through the floor/bulkhead joint.

Any advice or thoughts would be welcome. Thanks!

Rob and Marina

We have owned our 1992 Taswell for 10 years and cruse 5 months each year in Mexico. Love the boat, but have had issues with toe rail leaking when the rail is in the water.

Re: Taswell Owners

I guess that entails removing the teak toe rail and and rebeding the hull /deck connection after removing the mast... which will be expensive, but not as much as the Therapy.

Re: Taswell Owners

Hello, everyone!

I recently got a Taswell 43 and I'm working on refit projects. I am also interested in connected with other Taswell owners and exchanging ideas.

I created this group we can all join:

https://groups.google.com/g/taswell-owners

Let me know if something similar already exists.

Best,

Laz

Re: Taswell Owners

Hello Fellow Taswell Owners, we own SV Mahi, a Taswell 43 purchased from original owner back in 2015. We started a FB Taswell owners group there, for all who may be interested. It is a very active group, lots of shared information.

Clarenc, how we solved that issue was to run a bead of 4000 both outside and inside where the toerail meets the deck. Worked like a charm.

Re: Taswell Owners

Hi Taswell owners! I am looking at a purchase of a well-maintained 1989 Taswell 43. I'd love to know all the good and bad of these boats. My understanding is that they are basically a variation on the Bob Perry Norseman 447 that the same Taiwan yard made and sold on their own. The interior looks wonderful. From what I've seen, the deck seems a little tight (lots of standing rigging along the side decks that may not be great for ease of movement at sea). Curious about owner experiences, how they sail, what works and what doesn't, known areas of concern, etc.
