Anybody have any ideas about repowering. She had a disel but not in boat. Has been suggested using a universal 18 as a replacement for the orginal A4

Is it a bad idea not to repower but use a kicker motor, weight in boat,design, drag. Will be using for bay and costal waters

Sorry I am not familair with the term "Kicker motor". Do you mean an outboard?? If yes, an outboard would be fine. It comes down to what you want to power in addition to just psuhing you along through the water.

The only way I could see it happening is if you put a bracket on the stern and hung a fairly small outboard.

It may be necessary to adjust the internal trim to compensate for the weight of a lighter motor on the stern.

A small diesel inboard would be a much more seaworthy option.
