Synthetic Teak Decking - Your Experiences

Greetings,
We have a 1987 Crealock 34 that has teak decks.
They were an option from the factory and were affixed on top of the non-skid.

The time has come to replace them.
We are interested in actual experiences and recommendations for synthetic teak decking.
We are located in the St. Petersburg Florida area.

Thank you for your responses.

Hi Lou Ann

WE lay synthetic teak inside out head/shower about 5 years ago. The gelcoat was almost impossible to clean. This has withstood showerwater, cleaners etc and is trod on every day.

WE are more than happy with is and the type we bought actually looks more and more like real teak as it gains some patina. I know this not outdoors but indoors so your experience may be different

Our books have gotten 5 star reviews on Amazon. Several readers have written "I never thought I would go on a circumnavigation, but when I read these books, I was right there in the cockpit with Vinni and Carsten"

Teak has a great look and superior cabin insulation. My Contest only option was a teak deck.

In your area, a synthetic deck (and some of these are truly amazing - you can't tell the difference even from a close look), may be a very hot to step on with Florida sun radiation - way more than a real teak. I think there are synthetic teak materials with light color - almost white - these might work.

Alternatively, if the anti skid below can be clean recovered - it could be the way to go.
