Stripper for Two-Part Paints

Wondering if anyone knows of a chemical stripper that would work on two part LPU paints?

Yes, Jasco paint remover. The "environmentally sensitive" remover is not as effective, if effective at all. I have tried everything over the years.

Be sure to wear goggles and chemical resistant gloves. Have a wet rag available to immediately wipe up splatters or if any gets on your skin.

Jasco is really nasty stuff to work with.

Re: Stripper for two Part Paints

Practical Sailor did a test and the #1 rated stripper for bottom paint was Peel Away. There are tests where up to 12 layers have been removed with a single application. I'm not sure about all that but it does sound like a good product.

Was it compared to Jasco? Just wondering if there is something better.

Peel away is a terrible mess, I wouldn't go that route. Jasco is the one. Try the gel stripper or even better the Jasco aircraft stripper if you can find it. I believe we get ours from Fisheries Supply. I use this for stripping aluminum spars. And remember if its not metal, sanding is almost certainly quicker and less toxic/messy.

There use to be, but it's been outlawed by the EPA.

Re: Stripper for two Part Paints

I am looking to strip a two part LPU like Awlgrip from aluminum, not bottom paint. Peel Away won't touch this application, I will reasearch the Jasco product, Thanks guys
