I found a machine shop to make the bearings. Under $100 for two. Two day turnaround.
The boss man I talked to pointed out the mode of failure. The actual bearing surfaces were fine. The offending
corrosion was between the bearing sleeve and the housing which compressed the sleeve and thus clamped down on the shaft. Obvious once someone points it out.
So this housing will get a healthy slather of lanolin before the sleeves are reinserted.
He thinks they have some UHMW in stock, if not they will use mine. At this point the we is starting to suck for a few days so it seems God is telling me to stay here until Monday at least. Oh well, at least I know a good margarita joint.
