Stazo Decking ?

Hi folks

Has anyone out there had personal experiences,
good or bad with a product called STAZO decking ??
we are removing our old teak deck
and this product has caught our eye

Very interested to hear from anyone who has used it particularily anyone with a deck like this for a period of time

Oh man I used something alot like it for a number of years, My home had a deck made of it. Homedepot sells it, very cheap last a life time. no fading no painting after its down you just keep it clean.

Thanks for responses guys...
we have looked at the various websites
and some of the published comparisons,
but to our mind NOTHING compares to personal experience

we would particularily like to hear from anyone
who has used this product on their boat as a deck covering

Any comments on installation problems or solutions found.
plus of course, comments good or bad about
the durabilily,
ease of cleaning,
insulation characteristics,
suitability for use in the tropics,
caulking issues,
Percieved value for money
in fact ANY Input greatly appreciated.

I can offer you a quote for the manufacture of the Stazo Marinedeck if yiou are interested. I am the official manufacturer here in South Africa appointed by Stazo Netherland and only require a template from you to make up the panels which are very easily installed where ever you are in the world.

I can produce for about 360 US Dollars per m2 of decking on receipt of your template or detailed drawing ( accurate ) Delivery/shipping needs to be added to this price.

I have had made small panels made from my templates. Not big areas, about 1m2

I have more extensive experience of the PVC based strip plank alternatives , especially Flexiteak

MarineDeck , It has a nice feel underfoot, but in my experience is not as robust as the PVC product, It does seem to stay cooler then Flexiteak, ( which gets hot enough to burn the soles of your feet !) but again mine was a small area.

Laying the mat was easy.

I found flexiteak cheaper as I could buy the material directly. Mistakes in the template in Marinedeck are terminal. I found I could lay flexiteak as fast as I could make good quality templates. !

we cleaned it with ordinary detergents

We did find that over time it got dirt ingrained into the surface and gradually darkened.

Dave,

There are two major problems with PVC decking.

1) it gets very very hot under foot
2) it will begin to blister under extreme heat

Stazo will not stain as easily as PVC and allows you to clean it with a little PH neutral soap and a scrubbing brush.

I use to install a PVC decking and had endless problems with the 2 listed items.

Stazo is definitely the answer in replacing teak.
