Spruce Mast coming down!

I'm pulling the 6 year old deck stepped spruce mast. I haven't done this work before on a wooden mast so I'm looking to make sure I cover all my bases while it's down.

The paint is cracking. What type of paint is recommended? I know there's a cheaper kind that cracks after a few years but the mast needs to be pulled that often for inspection anyways.

The wires are all corroded inside the mast. Will be replacing wires and upgrading nav lights to LED, but there's also no wind indicator or antennaes of any kind. I can't afford an SSB right now but can get the antenna up there. Would that be a good idea? Also was thinking about AIS. Not sure what else is good to have up there. Was thinking of adding an extra halyard as well.

Any other comments are much apprrciated!
