Spray foam insulation above

I have a Newport 28(1975), with a full liner.

The space above my liner and the boats deck is pretty much impossible to get to, so I'm thinking about spraying foam into the void above the V-berth and maybe the cabin.

I wonder if this would work at cutting the heat transfer from the sun hitting the top of the boat, into the cabin and V-berth?

Re: Spray foam insulation above

I dont know the specifics about your boat but last week I foamed mine and I can say get drop cloths and lots of masking tape its a bit messy. I used fire retardant poly iso foam. Its a closed cell foam, the stuff you get at places like Lowes is an open cell foam that will adsorb water, avoid that. Make sure its completly dry, dont get it on you and dont breath the fumes.....

Make sure you don't use to much, and definitely allow plenty of space for it to ooze out. If it expands in a closed area, it will push on, and possibly bulge the panels.
