Spartite...better/cheaper alternatives?

Forgive my ignorance, I've never had to replace mast wedges or boots before.

Anyone like or dislike Spartite?

What are some alternatives? What makes these alternatives better or worse?

Re: Spartite...better/cheaper alternatives?

I recently bought PMC-790 from an artist store in Richmond to use to fill a gap on my Freedom mast base. Haven't tried it yet, but the small package costs around $35 and you can get it online, too. Much cheaper than Spartite, but certainly with some of the same concerns such as the need to use mold release or you'll never get it out next time. I'll try to remember to post back here with results.

I love spartite, there may be an alternative but it isn't that expensive and I have never had an issue with it. Far better than wedges.

Nice thing with this type of system is it distributes the stress across the whole area instead of high stress points at the partners. Recommend painting or covering to eliminate uv damage. Ours been in use for over 10 years no issues. As stated above and in directions use release agent. Manufacture recommends Vaseline. Mast collar on deck opening makes installation much easier.
