Solar arch/davit for Oceanis 46

Hello,

I recently purchased a Beneteau Oceanis 46 from 2006.

I'm researching the best solution for solar arch/davit and would like some input from you guys.

The previous owner from the owner I bought the yacht from did have a solar arch/ davit like this as seen in the attached photos. Basically the pushpit combined with solar arch. (this is my actual boat). The owners don't have this anymore and now it's just a pushpit.

What would be pro's vs con's for this solution vs a stand alone solar arch as also seen on the attached photo.

I would like to install around 1000W or 1200W of solar and have a davit to be able to hoist a Highfield Dingy (62kg) without engine.

Any help or thoughts would be much appreciated.

Re: Solar arch/davit for Oceanis 46

We have a stand alone arch from Atlantic Towers for our Oceanis 46 that we use for our dinghy and 1200 watts of solar panels. It's aluminum, came as a kit, and is much less expensive than a custom stainless steel arch but is only an option if you are in the US. If you're going to have a arch made I think it still makes sense to keep it standalone as it needs to be made of larger and thicker steel than the typical pushpit and attachement points on the hull need to be reinforced. Replacing existing pushpit rails seems like an unnecessary expense with no real advantages. Here's a shot of our arch.
