Just went to make arrangements to slip my
boat and have been told – NEW RULES; now I have to have
insurance before slipping. Grr...
Applies to all the slipways around here so we now have to comply with a new
government initiative, no
insurance, no slip. While I can understand individual slipways wanting to do things their own way (ie insurance or no insurance), I can't understand why the G
men should dictate policy to all.
One yard told me it is causing all sorts of problems for some older lower value
boats to say nothing of the following scenario:
Yard – “no certificate, no slip”
Insurance Company - “no slip, no certificate”
Catch 22.
Gun'mit - “not our problem, mate”
Seems like some clown managed to burn his
boat while
on the hard last year and so now we have an insurance requirement for ALL. I am over this dumbing down to the lowest common idiot.
Luckily for moir, I had a
survey last year which is still good and have been quoted $140 for 3rd party cover so dollars aren't the issue (yet) but soon I will have to have insurance for the
dinghy trip out to the
mooring.
Rant over!
