I might be wrong but this sounds like it is a job for an experienced teak wood worker. Good luck in finding one but if you can, hire him! I am with those who doubt the effectiveness of steaming teak but if you must go the DIY route I would bend the two pieces before joining them. As a general principle the application of bending stresses to a mechanical joint is undesirable.
