Shade covers - polycarbonate

I have large polycarbonate windows on my cat damaged by rubbing on dark mesh shade covers.

I will try and polish them out.

Is there any shade material doesn’t damage polycarbonate?

Maybe that adhesive white stuff with holes in it?

Thanks
Paul

Re: Shade covers - polycarbonate

The Meguiars polish recommended for automobile headlight covers works wonders on polycarbonate.

As to your covers, I'd be looking at using something soft to hold them off the "windows", like pool noodle sections, or hose pieces. If you need the shadecloth to help keep it cool belowdecks, spacing it off may be your best bet. Sunbrella covers may still flutter and abrade the polycarbonate, so I wouldn't go that route.

I'm not familiar with the stick on stuff, but one concern with it is seeing out of it when you're using the boat. That can actually also be a problem with the meshes, seeing out in the dark, as you look for traffic.

Take a look at this stuff. I use it to keep UV of my dinghy. It sews easily, is porous for rain and letting wind through rather than flapping, and does not unravel. Others have found other uses for it. It's basically monofillament thread. I have not seen any evidence of its rubbing.
