Salt Crystals In Bilge

I've had my boat for 2 yrs and haven't seen these. Could it be the dry-er summer here in northern Cali compared to the prior summer on the east coast?

Re: Salt Crystals In Bilge

Hi,
that is not unusual, our sterngland is dripping saltwater when in operation, the heat in the motor compartment evaporates the water and the salt is left. Unfortunately we cannot use this source of salt for our kitchen because of the grease in the stern gland. As long as no water is at this place we donīt bother.
It is preferable to know where the saltwater is coming in.
