Re: Safely doing dive work?

Hello jkleins,

Apologies if I wasn't clear (foreign language for me).

What I am saying (and the US Coast Guard), is that the red&white is NOT an official flag! It is something that, due to habit, people use as a "diving flag".

That said (please note that I am extremely limited in my knowledge on US law, so I may be wrong here) Federal law will always be applied if there is any conflict between federal and state law... which means that at the end of the day, it will be the Alpha flag prevailing, as it is the only official flag that represents underwater activities at all. Obviously, should the $hi*#... hit the fan and someone actually complains about it. Say, your insurance company not paying up because you did not have the right flag up when that boat ran you over?

Furthermore, any official flag has predetermined proportions and any of the 51 official flags has to obey by them to be official (as a country flag, for example). Try as you may, can you find anything written on the red&white?

But it is not my boat nor skin, so...

As for the lights and shapes, they are in place but they do NOT say there is a Diver under water... they say that the vessel is limited in its ability to manouver

I clarified your seemingly blanket comment because FWIW, many do not read the complete thread and may not realize the discussion pertains to just salt water.

Additionally, the article mentions grabbing a hot contact in salt water can be lethal.
