Replacing standing rigging/coppercoat timing

Hi guys I am going to look at a project boat a pearson 40 on sunday. I plan to work on it thought the year. I was curious if there is any drawback to replacing the standing rigging or doing bottom paint now vs waiting until closer to launch?

No issues with the rigging, but some anti fouling paints need to be splashed fairly soon after application. You'll need to investigate the properties of the one that you choose to use.

Good luck with the projects,

Jim

Ablative paints usually don't have any time limit on how soon you have to get the bottom wet. Some/all hard paints are the ones that need to be launched soon after application.

If the mast is stepped the yard may not allow you to go up the mast to change the rigging. Personally I'm a bit leery of climbing a mast with the boat out of the water.
