Replacing rear wall in my cabin cruiser

Hi,

I’ve in the middle of a mechanical refit and had to remove the back wall of cabin. Attached are photos of existing. My question is what product can I use as a replacement for this back wall? Obviously marine ply springs to mind but was costing or paint can I use to line the exterior of the ply? The existing walls seem to have some sort of laminate that has held up well for the last 30 years. Thanks in advance.

Keep the door, replace the panels.

That area is exposed to a lot of water, ergo goboatingnow's recommendation on paint.

Consider a laminate instead of plywood such as these:

Using laminate would have the advantage of making the repair permanent, even without paint. In 1/2" thickness, itwould be adequately rigid, as well.

The link is to expanded PVC , this material is not particularly UV resistant and would still need specialist paint to protect it. It’s soft and will show scratches as well.

Marine ply , finished , sealed , primer ped and top coated will be the best bet.
