Replacing Plywood at Portholes

So finally getting around to replacing the plywood and reinstalling the portholes up forward and goodness it is more of a job than planned as it seems it was the first piece put in so you can’t get to it without removing all trim forward and aft of it and the fwd panel as well because it overlaps the end. Am I missing something here? Why would they do this!

Re: Replacing Plywood at Portholes

See if you can get a copy of Chapelle’s “Boatbuilding” https://www.amazon.com/Boatbuilding-.../dp/0393035549 - maybe out of the library - and look up cabin trunk construction. He does a good job explaining why things are done the way they are.
