Replacing Line on a Hood In-Mast Furling System

Hi All,

Hoping someone can help me out. I have a Hood In-mast furling system that I need to replace the furling line on. It looks to be one continuous piece of line running through the furling, through a couple sheaves, back to the furling winch, and back up to the furling through more sheaves, so how do I go about replacing it? This is on an 84 model Witness Catamaran, and I would imagine the mast is original. Any ideas on what to do?

Thanks...Jeff

If this is a continous line furling system you'll need to study up on double braid splicing, or hire a rigger to come to your boat and splice a new line. Leading the line through the blocks in it's original configuration isn't hard, the worst part is putting the two ends togehter.

Sailmonkey,

Thanks for the reply. I'll follow up on double braid splicing and see if it's something I can take care of before paying a rigger. I appreciate the information.
