Also I replaced four catch blocks on four of the Lewmar hatches. Hopefully that will fix the hatch leaks.

Today was another fun day. As it was raining and quite miserable, I decided to treat myself to a little cork cabinet lining removal!

Also I was able to source the 5/8 inch nuts and bolts for the mast support that bolts into the hull.

I ordered some cool stuff today as well.

I also am wondering what to do with the lockers after they are sanded. The cork was OK, but I really don't want to have to scrape it 20 years from now. I guess if I keep it dry, it will be OK.

I was thinking brushing the lockers with Gelcoat and being done with it. But just not sure. does anyone know of a synthetic liner that I could adhere into place and that will not decompose.

Gelcoat is super easy to keep clean and mildew free, you can clean it with your choice of bleach mix, solvents, etc etc without damaging it-as long as you get a good surface cure.

Anytime! Snow White is easiest to see dirt and mildew on. Apply with a little foamy roller (Slim Jim or the like) for no brush marks. Get extra roller covers, they melt in gelcoat after about five minutes. Foam brush the corners. Do two coats, with wax in the second coat only, for good coverage. You should only need forty five minutes or so between coats.

Bilge Kote is pretty good stuff, but not anywhere near as durable and solvent resistant as gel. All paints eventually fail, leading to flaking paint in the bilge, which is dangerous because it clogs bilge pumps. I won't use paint in an interior myself. A fine spray mist of propylene glycol is a good mildew preventer. I also don't use this in interiors, even though you can get food grade. Wash regularly with a little bleach in your soap, it kills mold spores.

Thanks for the answer...makes sense. We redid our bilge in Sherwin Williams Tile-Clad epoxy paint and it hasn't had any issues, but I could see there eventually being some chipping.

Work is slowly coming along. I have the mast support reinstalled will new hardware, which is covered in Lanocote. Still waiting on the step to be finished.

The goodies have arrived and as soon as my paper is done, I will start working on the electrical and fresh water systems.

Alright folks. Here is the update:

The mast is primed and painted. It looks very nice. We are still waiting on the rigging. No big deal. Here is a picture of the paint. Sorry for the bad picture. It was raining.

I finished gelcoating a few lockers it was quite a pain in the butt, but not too bad. Don't judge me on the taping. Not my finest hour.

I have removed some interior wood and now have access to the chain plates. This is going to be a pain. Fortunately for Denise and I, I predict the fumes will be too strong tomorrow on our day off. I guess we will have to go to the beach instead!
