Refit Yards

Where will I find a list of refit yards, interior refurbishing?
Are there any refit yards in Cuba?

Re: Refit Yards

I can offer some insight into this....

In simple words... No there are no refit yards in Cuba..

I have done some pretty extensive research on this and am %90 sure that is the correct answer. The other problem, even if you could find a yard in Cuba you will have other issues. Access to SOME parts is nearly impossible. Although they are removing many of the antiquated laws, some still remain. Some of those laws do not allow certain types of boat parts and equipment to be imported.

My plan is to move the boat out of Cuba to a location where the logistics are easier.

Do you have the boat in Cuba now?
The refurbishig required does not require a yard, the work to be done can be done at the dock or even at anchor.
Hemmingway Marina in Cuba is less than 100 miles whereas Miami is 150 miles.
I could provide all the necessary tools and materials (sandpaper, paint, ect)

Re: Refit Yards

No need to find land just to refit the yards. Just send them down to the deck, patch the sails, paint, refurb the tackle, and sway 'em back up while underway!

I have purchased a boat in Cuba that needs some work. I pick her up in April so I have been researching pretty extensively. My boat is in south Cuba, so I have not been to the marina in Havana! They definately have some skilled people in the south but they are all booked in the charter trade. I wasn't able to find any working privately (yet).

If your boat is already in Key West, why wouldn't you do the work there? If you are trying to save money, I don't think you will in Cuba. Logistically, Florida is the best place to have work done on a boat.
