Refinishing Aurelia

I'm posting in a few before and after images of my summer project from 2007. My wife and I refinished Aurelia's topsides and cockpit using Sterling LP Paint. The topside took about 70 man-hours to complete - mostly in sanding time. We set up scaffolding all around the boat, which as a great help. The cockpit took about the same amount - removing and re-bedding hardware is a major PITA.

The top coats flowed on very well with a roller; there was plenty of time for tipping off the roller stipple. Overall, I was amazed at how easy it was to get a smooth, glossy surface. I'm very satisfied with the results.

Non-skid & Durability

Solitude - I used the topcoat paint modified with a non-skid additive for the non-skid. This was done subsequent to the images shown in the post.

James S - Aurelia looks the same now as she did two summers ago, (excluding some new dock rash - ouch!). My spring prep prior to launching is simply a wash and rinse. I believe that repainting her every four or five years takes less work that yearly buffing and waxing - two dreary tasks that I don't have to do any more.

Thanks, folks, for your kind comments.
