Refinished Mast Step

Hi All,

I removed the corroded steel mast step of my 1978 Pearson 10M. I had it cleaned to bare metal, zinc coated with powder coat over that. The question is, there was a ground wire attached to one of the step bolts, but that will not do much now as the powder cost I assume will insulate the step. So what should I do now? Grind off a section of powder coat or just attach the ground to the mast? I would like it done right but I do not need a 30 year solution, I will only have this boat two more seasons at most. There is always a bit of water in the bilge, mostly fresh as near as I can tell.

Thanks!
