Recommendations for Upholsterers for new interior cushions?

We just bought a Baba 35' and are starting a pretty serious refit insides and out. We need to get a new set of cushions made. 22 cushions in all. I think we want to use Ultrleather. Does anyone have any tips or suggestions? Should we stay local, try overseas? Buy our own foam?

Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

Ideally you would go local. The canvas shop will come and measure and template for cushions from the actual boat, not the old cushions themselves.

If the cushions are really simple you can take them to a local upholstery shop and have them replicated at a much lower cost, but they probably wonít fit as well when they are done.

Be sure to get new foam. Itís tempting to save money and just have the old foam recovered but itís penny wise and pound foolish.

Re: Recommendations for Upholsterers for new interior cushions?

Girlfriend wanted leather, Ultraleather was the compromise. It is actually quite similar to the material on the original cushions. Sample states that it has "ink and stain resistance, antomicrobial, abrasion resistance" Also rated for 500,000 "double rubs by the Wyzenbeek Method (whatever that is). The Silvertex is only 100,000. We found a local shop with a great portfolio of high end work who is doing it for $50/cushion with us supplying material and him supplying foam. Will post results in case anyone else want to work with him. We have 22 cushions overall and other quotes range from $3700 for vinyl plus foam to $50/sqft to $200/cushion
