Make sure the regulator that is near the tank is on?

You're going to be real embarassed if you forgot to turn the tank on

Suggest removing the hose from the BBQ, briefly opening the tank valve and checking for gas flow. If none, the regulator is suspect. If there is flow, then there is likely an obstruction inside the BBQ, and the most likely spot is at the orofice. Access it, and stick a bit of thin wire through the tiny hole and try lighting again. I bet it willl work!

Re: Propane grill not working

If you are in the US the tank and hose have safety features built in. Try turning
the gas off at the tank, check to make sure that the hose to tank connection is tight, make sure the burner valves are off. Then SLOWLY open the valve on the tank. New tanks have a safety feature built into the OPD valve that will not allow flow unless connected to a hose, and will shut off gas flow if it is too high, like a broken hose. Closing the tank valve resets the device.

Re: Propane grill not working

Thank you for the information about the regulator, and I will reset the tank as well. Greatly appreciated, this is a very nice place for finding help.

Re: Propane grill not working

spiders love the smell of propane and nest in the orifices. It's an every Spring thing here (boat and home) to take a fine wire and clean out all orifices and one of those small brushes on a flexible shaft to clean out venturi tubes, etc.
Should not be your problem with a new unit but worth a try.

Re: Propane grill not working

This happened to me, ended up being a regulator, after I bought a new tank thinking it was the tank.

similar to above but I also open and close the valves on BBq after tank is shut off and then open tank

Re: Propane grill not working

Sometimes tiny debris gets stuck in the regulator. several taps with a metal object can loosen them to improve flow. I also agree about not opening the grill control until the tank is turned on.
